Essential Functions
As a Transportation Project Engineer you will lead the development of roadway contract documents including plans, specifications and estimates. Contracts documents will be specifically related to roadway plans, profiles, typical sections and grading. Other job functions include:
- Roadway, Highway and Traffic control design using multiple tools such as Microstation, OpenRoads and GEOPAK
- Design and preparation of concept road plans and alternatives analysis for new transportation systems or retrofits to existing systems
- Plan alteration and modification of existing transportation systems to improve safety or function
- Coordination with contractors, utility companies and government agencies
- Preparation of alternative analyses reports for concept roadway improvements
- Hydraulic design for pipe systems, culverts and bridges in support of highway projects
- Cost estimating
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- Four (4) years of experience in transportation/roadway design
- Experience with MicroStation V8i, Geopak/OpenRoads, and/or AutoCAD (including Civil 3D)
- Experience working on projects for local, state and federal clients
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:
- Master of Science in Civil Engineering
