The firm is seeking a Geographic Discipline Leader with significant Water / Wastewater experience in the Syracuse, NY area. The individual must be a self-starter with an extensive business and agency network in the region, fully capable of leading business and client development in order to foster and grow the firm's business in the area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Gain an in-depth understanding of the company's engineering and design capabilities to present to current and potential clients in Syracuse.
- Engage in strategic planning to identify and secure water/wastewater projects in the Syracuse regional area.
- Create a business plan targeting work opportunities based on industry knowledge and client relationships.
- Drive new business development and client follow-up.
- Manage client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.
- Meet predetermined goals for profit, productivity, and deliverable timelines.
- Serve as the primary client manager.
- Maintain regular contact with engineering consultants, governmental bodies, stakeholders, and contractors for project planning, design, and permitting.
Technical Water/Wastewater Leader:
- Oversee project timelines and budgets to meet client needs and maintain productivity.
- Ensure quality control and assurance for water and wastewater design projects.
- Supervise project work and productivity.
- Develop and implement engineering methods for water/wastewater designs.
- Prepare technical documents, including engineering calculations, plans, and permit applications.
- Lead in the planning and design of water infrastructure projects, including conceptual drawings.
- Produce and review construction documents and specifications.
- Conduct studies and prepare design documents for water/wastewater infrastructure.
- Review utility connection applications from municipal and other clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering.
- PE license required.
- Expertise in regional permitting processes.
- 15+ years of relevant industry experience in Syracuse, with a focus on local and regional government relationships.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage clients and secure new business.
- Experienced in water/wastewater treatment process and design.
- Knowledgeable in permitting requirements for water/wastewater projects.
- Capable of building a team of industry experts.
