The Transmission Line Engineer will be responsible forโฆ
- Actively secure T&D projects by identifying and responding to active RFPs
- Lead and manage a team of T&D Engineers
- Design overhead transmission lines (12 kV to 500 kV) and underground transmission lines (12 kV to 230 kV) from concept to construction
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost estimates
- Prepare specifications and scope documents for construction tenders and contracts
- Mentor junior engineers
- Interface with clients, contractors, permitting agencies, and regulatory bodies
- Coordinate interdisciplinary efforts and review engineering work
- Perform field inspections during construction
- Ready to step into project engineer or manager roles as required
The Transmission Line Engineer should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- P.E. registration required or eligibility to obtain within 2 years
- 5-10 years of experience in transmission lines design
- Technical proficiency in T&D Engineering
- Ability to leverage previous experience to inform design processes for similar projects
- Strong expertise in PLS software suite, including PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER
- Capability to conduct EMF studies and line loss analysis
- Experience in transmission structure foundation design, including direct embed and concrete pier foundation design, is beneficial
- Proficiency in GIS software packages like ArcGIS is advantageous
- Knowledge of transmission tower structural analysis is a plus
- Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations for transmission line design
- Desirable experience in thermal upgrading and line condition assessments
