Job Description
The Fleet Manager ensures that the fleet of trucks and equipment complies with federal and state safety regulations. Works to increase the safety of Truck Drivers. The position is to maintain and contain the costs of operation of the assets within the fleet. This position supports the Operations team and works with personnel in various departments.
Essential Functions
- Manage safety compliance for on road equipment.
- Collect data from the field and repair facilities for current updates to ensure federal and state compliance is maintained to ensure safe operation of assets on the road.
- Send reminders to the field and collect required data to update their files within the system.
- Review and audit against fuel reports and DVIRs for required compliance with policy and regulation.
- Maintain equipment allocation rates. Track complete equipment costs by the type of equipment being used and benchmark the data so as to have a company cost to use for allocating equipment cost to current projects.
- Manage the transport of equipment to and from projects thru company transport as well as third party transport companies.
- Oversee off road equipment repairs to maintain safe equipment for company use and ensure compliance with company policy and any regulations for the region working in.
- Review, approve, and advise equipment repairs, purchases, disposals of assets, and rental of equipment for projects. Begin the steps, get the backup required, review each option available, and then process required paperwork for EERPs, CADRs, rentals for purchases, disposals, and repairs.
- Manage Comdata Fuel Card Process, cancelling pins for terminated employees, remove sold assets, and link driver files to comdata fuel cards or pin numbers.
- Create Fleet related Standard Operating Procedures for all fleet processes. Develop standard operating procedures for GPS driver data and closed loop follow up.
- Document and address inappropriate driving related to speeding, starts, and stops.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of related experience.
- Ability to travel for work.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and liabilities.
- Knowledge of legal weights and permits.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance.
- Mechanical experience for equipment and trucks including an understanding of equipment repair and requirements.
- Experience with costing of equipment to be able to allocate back out to a job.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less.
- 5 or more years of experience, including supervisory experience.
