A top ENR firm is looking for a Senior Signal Operations Engineer to join their team in Atlanta. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare traffic operation, access management, and safety studies
- Review project existing conditions
- Coordinate traffic count data collection
- Review current and planned projects
- Meet with local agency traffic operations and planning & development review staff
- Perform Qualitative Assessment of intersections and corridors - including pedestrians & bikes
- Prepare signal warrant analysis
- Create and update Intersection and Corridor Inventory
- Perform Intersection and Corridor Crash Analysis
- Perform turn lane length evaluations
- Traffic Signal Optimization/Progression Analysis
- Perform median openings study
- Perform driveway analysis
- Develop alternatives
- Perform constructability review
- Prepare B/C Ratio and Net Present Value of Crash Reduction Benefits using HSIP guidelines and Highway Safety Manual
- Participate in Public Involvement, Public Hearings, Workshops & Property Owner Evaluations
- Prepare Trip Generation Study and Weave Analysis
- Prepare / Review Site Traffic Analysis
- Perform traffic signal operations including:
- Respond to alarms and complaints about/for signals in the region.
- Identify locations for smart devices (CCTV, travel time detectors, etc.).
- Maintain priority list of signals for retiming and fine tuning.
- Proactively monitor signal operations for potential signal timing improvements.
- QA/QC of Junior TSM&O Staff.
- Report on Signal Operations Performance Measures.
- Emergency Temporary Active Management.
- Training and Support of internal and external staff.
- Monitor data for potential equipment malfunctions
- Implement traffic plans as directed and as required to address traffic conditions, incidents and events
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of job-related experience required.
- Professional Engineer, P.E. certification is required; preferably in Georgia.
- Extensive knowledge of Synchro, MaxView/Maxtime and other Traffic software is required.
- Knowledge and skill in MicroStation and CADD techniques and principles.
- May be required to have additional experience for some assignments.
- GDOT project experience is a must.
- Local traffic signal project experience is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge and skill in technical writing and producing technical reports.
- Skill in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships.
