I recently started working with one of the leading Independent Power Producers (IPP) for Wind, Solar, Battery Storage and Hydrogen projects, globally! They are looking for a Senior Network Engineer who will be joining the as a piece for the IT Team and will be responsible for supervising a team of external engineers through providing technical direction and support.
This position more specifically falls under the Network Operations team and will be involved with envisioning, implementing and supporting network infrastructure. This position will be incredibly hands on where you will be responsible first hand for the design and implementation as well as daily administration of the entire network infrastructure which will include:
- Cisco Catalyst Switches
- Cisco Nexus L2/L3 switches
- Cisco ASA firewalls
- IPSEC tunnels
- Cisco and Aruba access points
- Serial Console servers
- Out of band management devices
- Remote access VPN
- 2-Factor Authentication gateways
- Redundant high-speed internet links
- Inter-data-center with dynamic routing
Primary Responsibilities, Senior Network Engineer:
- Manage and supervise outsourced employees
- The Senior Network Engineer will be involved with the design, installation and configuration and maintenance for local area network and wide area network (LAN/WAN) and the wireless infrastructure in a multi-vendor environment which will include:
- Cisco routers
- Switches
- Access points and wireless controllers
- Integrate Wind Project Sites/Power Plants into the actual architecture
- Review and analyze and recommend potentially new technologies for deployment across the rest of the enterprise
- Supervise the rotational on-call schedule to provide after-hours and weekend support
- Act as a consultant for engineering services where applicable on the projects
- Keep up with recent and innovative technology, serve as the technology SME and make recommendations based on your findings
- Working through highly complex issues and provide unique and innovative solutions
- Work alongside IT Management to effectively plan out the network infrastructure
- Implementation of network solutions based on findings from data analysis and capacity requirements
- Responsible for performing capacity management, planning and reporting related to technical and capacity requirements
- Plan and design the networks using existing Network infrastructure including the physical infrastructure in their offices and substations
- Conduct analysis in order to develop an advance telecomms hardware and or software solutions
- Lead complex technical projects from start to finish
- Configure maintain and troubleshoot routing protocols and firewalls
- Reach out to vendors to see how you can expand the network
- Consider existing projects and figure out how they integrate them into the actual network
- Deploy and troubleshoot VPN configurations
- Performance of root cause analysis of problems with the network
- Create status reports and provide insight to project stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications of Senior Network Engineer:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT or related field
- 5+ years of network engineering support
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking foundation which includes routing, sub-netting, VPN, packet filtering, fire-walling, VLANs, packet capture
- Ability to configure and maintain routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
- Understanding of ancillary network services such as RADIUS, TACACS, NTP, LDAP and DNS
- EXTENSIVE experience with creating, maintaining and troubleshooting Cisco ASA firewalls in routed mode
- Extensive experience with deploying and troubleshooting various VPN configurations including remote access SSL VPN (Cisco)
- Extensive hands on experience creating and maintaining Solar Winds
