Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented MEP Engineer to join our forensic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, coupled with a passion for forensic investigation and analysis. As an MEP Engineer, you will play a crucial role in examining and evaluating MEP systems involved in incidents such as failures, accidents, and disputes. You will collaborate closely with their multidisciplinary team of engineers and consultants to conduct thorough investigations, analyze data, and provide expert testimony when required.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive forensic investigations of MEP systems involved in various incidents, including but not limited to building failures, equipment malfunctions, fires, and water damage.
- Perform detailed site inspections, document findings, and collect relevant data and evidence.
- Utilize engineering principles and analytical techniques to assess the root causes of MEP system failures or deficiencies.
- Prepare clear and concise technical reports outlining investigation findings, analysis results, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients, insurance adjusters, attorneys, and regulatory authorities, throughout the investigation process.
- Provide expert testimony and participate in dispute resolution proceedings, depositions, and court trials as needed.
- Stay abreast of industry developments, standards, and regulations related to MEP systems and forensic engineering practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or professional licensure (PE) is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in MEP design, construction, or forensic engineering.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems commonly found in buildings and infrastructure.
- Proficiency in conducting forensic investigations, including site inspections, evidence collection, and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess complex technical issues.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
- Experience with relevant software tools for engineering analysis and drafting (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, MATLAB, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
