Job Description:
The Senior Geologist is responsible for executing and managing environmental investigation and remediation projects. Responsibilities include preparing work plans, performing and overseeing field activities, evaluating data, preparing reports, and managing task order budgets with support from the program manager. This position is responsible for both serving as a technical specialist who develops and applies advanced concepts and approaches on environmental investigations and remediation projects including preparing and updating conceptual site models and in managing task order projects.
Requirements and Experience:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree from accredited program in environmental engineering or science, geology, or environmental chemistry, or related field
- Licensed as a Professional Geologist
- Experience with planning and leading field activities including environmental sampling, monitoring well installation, and remedial activities
- 5-15 years of relevant progressive environmental consulting experience
- Support hydrogeologic evaluations and environmental assessments and investigations
- Hazardous waste and materials management oversight.
- Support coordination with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders
- Provide experienced field sampling guidance and coordination for environmental investigation and remediation activities, including the collection of air, water, and soil samples, management of sampling documentation, and maintenance of field sampling equipment
- Log soil and provide soil boring and well installation oversight and design
- Collect, tabulate and evaluate environmental field and analytical data
- Provide and/or support environmental engineering design for remediation projects
- Implement corporate and project health and safety programs
- Assist program managers with managing and executing tasks on large projects as needed
- Develop project scopes, schedules and budgets
- Provide field oversight of remediation activities, subcontractors, and junior staff
- Manage and direct technical professionals, field technicians and remediation contractors
- Coordinate with clients and regulators
- Assist in business development opportunities and preparation of proposals
Competencies:
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Ability to design and implement environmental investigation and remediation programs, prepare technical work plans, reports, proposals, engineering plans, specifications and cost-estimates, and other deliverables
- Experience logging soils and providing oversight to drillers
- Detail-oriented, self-starter with environmental investigation, remediation, and cost estimating skills
- Knowledge of geologic and hydrogeologic principles
- Knowledge of applicable environmental laws and regulations
- Ability to travel to project sites both within AZ and other states, as needed
