Position Summary
The Senior Safety Manager is responsible for providing safety and risk management support to various construction projects throughout New England. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience, is technically strong with applicable OSHA and State level regulations, interpreting them, and successfully implementing them on their defined projects.
Daily safety inspections of field projects are the primary responsibility of the position to ensure compliance with Company and regulatory regulations. The ideal candidate must be able to interact with tradesmen through all levels of management effectively. The Senior Safety Manager should have strong communication skills allowing to handle crucial conversations effectively.
Qualifications / Education:
- Minimum College Education Bachelors Degree in related construction field
- 5 Years' Experience in Construction Safety
- Minimum of OSHA 30-hour training, First Aid/CPR and AED training
- Achievement of CHST is required within two years of appointment
Specific Responsibilities
Lead, direct and enforce safety on a single construction project or on multiple projects
Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and or property damage using job specific safety standards, best management practices
Build working relationships with project staff and Subcontractor Safety Representatives
Contribute to the development of the overall project safety program
Enforce Commodore's Safety Program and related policies and procedures and implement immediate corrective actions in accordance with Commodore, Federal, State and Local regulations, and owner requirements
Hold pre-construction planning meeting with subcontractors to review overall site safety program and job hazard analysis for their scope of work, and ensure plans are in place to mitigate risks
Ensure proper pre-planning for all activities and tasks for subcontractors and trades, sub-contractor compliance with safety submittals, training and equipment inspection and other documentation on a daily basis
Manage time and resource allocation appropriately to provide overall safety leadership to assigned project(s)
Create safety reports for the project, analyzing metrics and making recommendations for improvement over baseline
Evaluate training needs and make recommendations to subcontractors
May perform other duties as necessary or assigned
