Position Overview: Our client, a leading full-service building envelope contractor in the Greater Seattle Area, is in search of an adept Safety Director to uphold their unwavering commitment to safety and quality. The Safety Director will be tasked with overseeing safety programs and procedures, ensuring full compliance with regulations and industry standards, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization. With a particular focus on roofing, waterproofing, and building envelope projects, the Safety Director will collaborate closely with project teams to identify and mitigate safety risks effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored specifically to roofing, waterproofing, and building envelope projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to pinpoint hazards, assess risks, and guarantee full compliance with regulations and safety standards.
- Provide thorough safety training and education to employees and subcontractors, covering essential topics such as hazard recognition, fall protection, and equipment operation.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to seamlessly integrate safety considerations into all stages of project planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Conduct detailed investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, and formulate robust corrective actions to prevent recurrence and enhance safety performance.
- Maintain meticulous records of safety inspections, training activities, incidents, and compliance documentation.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies relevant to construction safety, and propose necessary updates to company policies and procedures as required.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, with a strong focus on roofing, waterproofing, or building envelope projects.
- A comprehensive understanding of OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and other pertinent safety guidelines.
- Possession of professional certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalents would be advantageous.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to effectively engage and motivate employees at all levels.
- A meticulous attention to detail, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
