An alternate fuel provider is interested in bringing on a Process Engineer to oversee a renewable diesel refinery. In this position, you will collaboratively monitor operating units, provide technical support and troubleshooting, and input of operating strategy of the renewable diesel facility. Responsibilities may include developing, designing, and planning in adherence with all requirements. Additionally, you'll be tasked with evaluating opportunities for improved efficiency, production throughput, and safety in plant and manufacturing facilities.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION WILL BE ON SITE 5X/WEEK
Process Engineer Responsibilities:
- Evaluate detailed engineering company design submissions, focusing particularly on heat & material balance (HMB), process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), utility summaries, battery limits schedules, and equipment specifications.
- Develop the scope, design, and conduct cost-benefit analyses for capital projects.
- Enhance and optimize current processes to achieve increased safety, quality, capacity, flexibility, and cost reduction, aligning with customer expectations.
- Provide senior-level engineering expertise for evaluating processes, optimizing renewable diesel plant operations, designing projects, overseeing start-up, troubleshooting, and testing process units.
- Conduct studies to analyze the impact of operating variables on product quality, yield, and profitability.
- Draft process specifications for problem-solving, optimization, or new projects, covering HMBs, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and instrumentation specifications.
- Participate in and lead essential process safety management programs, including Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, Pre-startup Safety Review, and Process Safety Information implementation as required.
- Lead the development of assigned small and large capital projects.
- Provide recommendations for capital investments across the business
- Collaborate closely with Production and Maintenance departments to ensure efficient resolution of operational issues.
Process Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
- 6+ years of experience in oil refining or renewable fuels required
- Experience in the monitoring and operation of hydrotreating and reforming preferred.
- Previous experience in the development of HMBs, PFDs, and P&IDs required.
- A working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ANSI, ASME, and API required.
- Previous experience with performing pump hydraulics, line sizing, and pump curve evaluation. Ability to size control valves and relief valves preferred.
- Experience developing equipment specifications for equipment such as pumps, vessels, and heat exchangers, and experience evaluation quotations.
- 5 years of experience with Process Safety Management preferred.
- Ability to perform normal Process engineering calculations such as fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required. Experience with CAD is a plus.
