The tasks include:
- Finding new opportunities to grow the client base and project list.
- Creating strong engineering designs and solutions that meet standards, working closely with team members for excellent project outcomes.
- Checking the quality of colleagues work, especially if not leading a project.
- Helping with project planning, teamwork, and preparing documents for potential projects.
- Working with the team to plan projects, track progress, handle billing, and respond to project inquiries.
- Managing various projects with different levels of difficulty and importance.
- Supporting teamwork and department goals.
- Encouraging growth for the organisation and its employees, participating in training with senior staff.
- Setting a good example and helping colleagues grow through positive leadership and guidance.
Key qualifications and abilities required:
- 10-20+ years of experience in geotechnical design, preferably with Department of Transportation or private sector projects like commercial or municipal.
- A Professional Engineer license in North Carolina or Virginia.
- Proven ability to ensure client satisfaction, promote teamwork, and contribute to business growth.
- Effective communication skills with clients and the ability to manage multiple projects within set parameters.
- Strong skills in technical writing and reviewing for various design aspects.
- Familiarity with NCDOT practices, policies, and relevant design standards.
- Knowledge of NCDOT prequalification codes for Geotechnical Engineering and Design.
- Expertise in project management, including client and risk management.
- Willingness to lead and support the growth of the geotechnical design team.
