The client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join their dynamic team in Singapore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for their cutting-edge data center facilities. As a Mechanical Designer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, architects, project managers, and construction professionals, to ensure the successful delivery of high-performance and energy-efficient data center solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for data center projects, including HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), piping, and plumbing systems.
- Collaborate with electrical and structural engineers to integrate mechanical solutions seamlessly within the overall data center design.
- Create detailed mechanical design drawings, layouts, and specifications using industry-standard software and tools.
- Perform heat load calculations, energy modeling, and thermal analysis to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of mechanical systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to determine the most suitable mechanical solutions for each project while considering energy efficiency and sustainability.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements to incorporate innovative mechanical design techniques and technologies into project plans.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, collaborating with on-site teams to ensure accurate implementation of mechanical designs.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and client consultations to present and explain mechanical design concepts.
- Adhere to local building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations in all design work.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the mechanical design team, sharing insights and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the data center, building services, or critical infrastructure sectors.
- Proficiency in using industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
- Familiarity with sustainable design practices and energy-efficient solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Effective communication skills to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality in design work.
- Professional engineering license (PE) or Chartered Engineer status is a plus.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations related to mechanical systems in Singapore.
