POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Roadway Design Engineer applies the appropriate standards to efficiently assemble the client's contract plans, specifications, and estimates. This type of Civil Design Engineer will work with the Civil Design team on transportation projects. Role will entail leading various disciplines to ensure projects get delivered on time and on budget. Typical clients include IDOT, ISTHA, CDOT and Cook County DOTH, among other transportation agencies.
POSITION FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops construction documents, calculations, exhibits, reports, and other supporting documents for Phase I and Phase II projects
- Perform or supervise the development of plans and specifications for transportation projects.
- Leads teams to accomplish assigned tasks
- Preparing contract plan, standards, and specifications for IDOT, ISTHA, CDOT, CCDOTH, among other transportation agencies
- Interact with client's management and engineering department to facilitate project efforts
- Participate in professional organizations and events
- Coordinates tasks and project schedules with team members
- May lead tasks and be required to work independently to complete tasks
- May develop or review cost estimates and quantity calculations
EDUCATION AND SKILLS
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field
- 8 to 10 years of relevant experience
- Strong operating knowledge of OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, Power GEOPAK SS10, ProjectWise among other Bentley products
- IL PE required or ability to transfer PE License to IL
- Roadway Plan Preparation experience
- High familiarity with IDOT, Tollway, CDOT, and CCDOTH standards
- Proficiency with Digital deliverables preferred
- Strong operating knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
