They're a top design firm in the U.S. with about a total headcount of 800 across the globe. They're not your ordinary engineering firm and have been around for many decades. They're in search for a Lead Bridge Inspector!
You won't just inspect bridges - you'll breathe life into them. Imagine standing atop a majestic span, the wind in your hair, and the pulse of history beneath your feet. Your mission? To ensure these vital arteries remain strong, resilient, and ready to carry the hopes and dreams of millions.
You'll conduct monthly NBIS element-level inspections across various bridge types, including sate-owned, municipal, privately owned, railroad, metal traffic signal poles, ferry docks, etc. throughout North Carolina.
Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Orchestrating and managing all aspects of inspections, reporting, and personnel.
- Quality Control: Ensuring the highest standards in inspection processes.
- Instruction and Task Assignment: Guiding Assistant Team Leaders and inspection staff.
- Detailed Documentation: Accurate condition assessments and comprehensive report writing.
- Structural Analysis: Opportunity to perform load rating and other structural analysis.
- Client Engagement: Serving as the primary point of contact and communicating findings directly to the client.
- Fieldwork: Willingness to travel and perform inspections using equipment like ladders and small boats.
Requirements:
- Certified NCDOT Team Lead
- NCDOT bridge inspection experience
- NHI safety inspection certification/completion of 130055 NHI safety inspection for in-service bridges, or equivalent
- Experience with WIGINS
- Load rating and report writing experience
- Valid US driver's license and clean driving record
- Strong communication, organizational, and writing skills
Preferred:
- BS in Civil or Structural Engineering
- NC PE license
