I am partnered with a top 100 ENR firm seeking a skilled hydraulic engineer to join our transportation engineering team and help deliver innovative solutions for a range of projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in hydraulic modeling, drainage design, and construction techniques, as well as a strong understanding of transportation engineering principles and best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Design, analyze, and optimize hydraulic systems for transportation projects, including highway drainage, bridge hydraulics, and stormwater management
- Develop hydraulic models and simulations to evaluate system performance, identify potential risks and opportunities, and inform design decisions
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop project plans, timelines, and budgets
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff members and ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards
- Conduct site investigations and assessments to identify potential impacts on hydraulic systems, and develop mitigation strategies as needed
- Prepare reports, technical documents, and presentations to communicate project findings and recommendations to clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders
- Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and industry best practices in hydraulic engineering and transportation engineering
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering, with a focus on hydraulic engineering or transportation engineering
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
- 5-10 years of experience in hydraulic engineering, with a focus on transportation projects
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, GeoPak Drainage, or StormCAD
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Knowledge of transportation engineering principles and best practices, including AASHTO design standards and FHWA guidelines
