We have a current opportunity for a Director of Substation-Transmission Engineering on a permanent basis. The position will be based in Virginia, where the director will oversee teams based out of various office locations within the state.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the engineering design, specifications, construction & maintenance of the firms distribution & transmission substations, transmission lines and mobile substations
- Direct the relaying, protection & coordination requirements for substation & transmission systems
- Oversee the procurement of land, site selection & permitting for substations the the acquisition of easements for t-lines.
- Handle budgeting, purchasing, testing & maintenance of all meters and apparatus
- Ensure electric & magnetic fields technical information/data is managed
- Mentor teams of engineers, contractors, designers, etc...
- Travel into an office or to a local project site at least 2-3 days each week
- Other duties assigned
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, etc...)
- 10+ years of engineering experience, including supervisory or project management experience
- P.E. registration preferred
- Recent Electrical Cooperative experience heavily preferred*
- Direct experience in substation & transmission design, project management, RUS design, and other utility functions
