We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to serve as the Director of Natural Resources. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of natural resource management, including land conservation, wildlife protection, and sustainable development initiatives. Working closely with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders, you will lead efforts to preserve California's diverse ecosystems and promote responsible resource utilization.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies for the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources in California.
- Collaborate with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community stakeholders to advocate for environmental policies and regulations.
- Lead initiatives to protect endangered species, preserve biodiversity, and restore degraded habitats.
- Oversee land acquisition and conservation easement programs to expand protected areas and enhance ecosystem resilience.
- Coordinate research and monitoring projects to assess the health of ecosystems and identify emerging conservation priorities.
- Provide guidance and support to staff members and partner organizations engaged in natural resource management activities.
- Represent the organization in public forums, conferences, and meetings to promote awareness of environmental issues and garner support for conservation initiatives.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in natural resource management and integrate them into organizational strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in environmental science, natural resource management, ecology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in natural resource management, conservation planning, or environmental advocacy, with a demonstrated track record of leadership and achievement.
- Strong understanding of California's environmental regulations, land use policies, and conservation programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders and build consensus around complex environmental issues.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage budgets, and achieve measurable outcomes.
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment, with the ability to effectively collaborate and coordinate activities across multiple locations.
