Position Summary: The Commercial Portfolio Director will lead the commercial efforts for a multi-gigawatt portfolio of late-stage renewable projects from PPA signing through to project COD. The position will monitor project budgets, schedules, risks, and economics, act as an advocate and voice of the customer through this critical phase of the project. Additionally, the position will assist in diligence and negotiation efforts for various other renewables commercial transactions and act as a subject matter expert on the commercial strategy and tactics for early and mid-stage renewable projects. The location of this position is flexible.
The responsibilities of the director include:
Commercial lead during execution phase of project
Understand and communicate financial and commercial impacts of site engineering design and EPC inputs.
Recommendations to optimize economics through design and execution.
Collaboration with Engineering, Execution, Procurement and Development teams.
Work with project teams to ensure projects are completed time and on budget.
Lead in customer contract compliance and reporting
Assist team and ensure periodic reporting obligations and deliverables are met.
Lead negotiation or renegotiation of energy offtake agreements
As necessary lead negotiation of any amendments needed in standard offtake contracts.
Lead the commercial negotiation of other energy supply agreements needed to support the company's portfolio.
The Director should have the following qualifications:
Minimum of seven years of energy generation commercial management, M&A, Development, or project management (engineering, construction, operations planning)
At least 5 years in the renewable industry strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and/or negotiate EPC and/or other service provider contractual agreements; Additional experience with Solar PV PPAs, and associated project development strongly preferred.
Ability to manage and lead multiple programs and projects to achieve scope, schedule and budget.
Willingness to travel up to 35%.
Bachelor Degree required. Graduate degree (MBA, Economics, Engineering, Legal) a plus.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, including an ability to present to leadership and obtain governance approvals.
