Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Consulting Engineer to join our team, specializing in utility interconnection policies and regulatory proceedings within the electric and natural gas sectors. This role is pivotal in providing technical expertise, strategic guidance, and policy insight to navigate the complex regulatory environment governing utility operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background, in-depth knowledge of regulatory affairs, and a keen understanding of interconnection policies related to electric and natural gas infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Regulatory Analysis:
- Stay current on electric and natural gas utility regulations at federal, state, and local levels, with a focus on interconnection policies.
- Analyze and interpret regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for optimization.
Interconnection Policy Expertise:
- Navigate interconnection policies and procedures for electric and natural gas systems.
- Provide strategic guidance on interconnection applications, standards compliance, and policy advocacy.
Technical Evaluation:
- Utilize engineering expertise to assess utility systems for interconnection feasibility and compliance with regulatory and policy requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of interconnected systems.
Client Collaboration:
- Work closely with clients to understand their business objectives, regulatory challenges, and interconnection needs.
- Provide strategic advice based on technical analysis, regulatory knowledge, and policy considerations.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Conduct comprehensive data analysis related to utility operations, regulatory proceedings, and interconnection applications.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation to support regulatory filings and interconnection processes.
Policy Advocacy:
- Engage with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and industry organizations to advocate for client interests in interconnection policies.
- Represent clients in hearings, proceedings, and policy forums to articulate technical arguments and advocate for favorable policies.
Project Management:
- Lead and manage projects related to utility regulatory compliance and interconnection, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align technical, regulatory, and policy considerations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field); advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in utility regulatory proceedings and interconnection policies within electric and natural gas sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and interconnection policies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical information for non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, regulatory authorities, and policy makers.
- Project management experience, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
