An alternate fuel provider is interested in bringing on a Process Engineer to oversee a Bio-diesel plant. In this position, you will act as a Consultant and main point of contact for the management team. This role will require engagement with a range of internal and external stakeholders managing multiple complex projects simultaneously. Responsibilities may include designing, planning, managing, and commissioning complex projects on time and in adherence with all requirements.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION WILL BE ON SITE 5X/WEEK
Process Engineer Responsibilities:
- Assess risks, communicate findings to management, and provide recommendations for new projects.
- Evaluate detailed engineering designs from the company, focusing on elements like heat and material balance (HMB), process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), utility summaries, battery limits schedules, and equipment specifications.
- Participate in implementing critical process safety management initiatives such as Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, Pre-Startup Safety Review, and Process Safety Information, taking a leadership role when necessary.
- Acquaint yourself with and proficiently utilize software for process design, process safety management, and work order requests.
- Develop process specifications for troubleshooting, optimization, or new projects, covering areas like HMBs, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment, and instrumentation specifications.
- Collaborate closely with Production and Maintenance departments to ensure efficient resolution of operational challenges.
- Conduct cost analysis to estimate project expenses and prepare and manage budgets effectively.
- Address questions, concerns, and complaints promptly throughout project execution.
- Act as a liaison between the company, contractors, and vendors.
- Coordinate the compilation of request for proposals, review project proposals, and establish comprehensive work plans.
- Manage projects by adhering to specifications and making necessary design adjustments to meet requirements.
- Maintain project data in line with company standards to enable accurate control measurements.
- Provide consistent and accurate management reports to facilitate timely decision-making.
- Develop project scopes, designs, and cost-benefit analyses for capital projects.
- Gather process specifications from contractors for troubleshooting, optimization, or new projects, including HMBs, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment, and instrumentation specifications.
- Lead the execution of both small and large capital projects as assigned.
Process Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of applicable experience in project management and/or process operations within a chemical and/or oil processing facility is required.
- Previous experience in creating Heat and Material Balances (HMBs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) is necessary. Familiarity with AutoCAD is preferred.
- Prior experience in conducting pump hydraulics, line sizing, and pump curve evaluation is required. Proficiency in sizing control valves and relief valves is preferred.
- Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera is preferred.
- A comprehensive understanding of business operations and adherence to operational and budgetary requirements is expected.
