A leading Global equipment and services provider for Power Generation is currently looking to develop and improve Automated Distribution and Wireless Communication products in order to improve the Smart Electrical Grid's resiliency and reliability. This will report to the Senior Manager of System and Software Architecture, with the goal of refining the requirements and architecture for smart embedded software products.
They are currently looking to bring on a Wireless and RF System Architect to join their Product Development Software Team. The System Architect for RF and Wireless will be supporting the optimization of wireless system performance, execution of inter-operability tests, in addition to developing and executing testing strategies and test plans.
Offers remote flexibility!
Primary Responsibilities of Wireless and RF System Architect:
- Develop system performance and required specifications for wireless communication systems
- Develop system architecture for wireless communication systems which could include algorithm development or in some cases the selection of the algorithm
- Break down marketing requirements into authored system and product level requirements and any architectural specs
- Carry out simulated models to help characterize wireless channel performance
- Lead architectural explorations and conduct preliminary evaluations of design alternatives for the wireless subsystems
- Analyze and document any wireless communication trends and any new emerging technologies
- Oversee and analyze the traceability from system level requirements and architectural abstractions to individual network requirements and detailed architecture descriptions
- Work side by side with the hardware and software teams to help identify and resolve system performance issues
- Define high level field deployment guidelines which will be used by field service teams
- Involvement with unique customer solutions
- Hands on involvement all the way down to software code if needed with the product implementation to help define and deliver relevant solutions
- Strong ability to lead a team
- Collaboration with Engineering which includes:
- Hardware
- Electronic
- Software Development and Test
- When needed, lead the front end of development process of a project through implementation of product development processes and monitoring
Wireless and RF System Architect Minimum Requirements:
- 10+ years working in wireless AND RF technologies with 5 or more years working as a system or product level architect
- Solid understanding of digital communication systems, RF propagation, TDM, CDMA, OFDM, MIMO
- Understanding of air interface protocols, air interface performance analysis, characterization and optimization
