A Leading Southern California Utilities General Contractor is currently looking for a Project Manager who has experience in Wet Utilities (Water, Sewer, Storm Drain) for their backlog in the LA area.
Roles and Responsibilities
Will be required to work with estimators transitioning a winning bid to operations;
In depth knowledge of various type of shoring systems, pipe, and appurtenant materials;
Manage contract and project costs; Apply for and negotiate change orders; Maintain job schedules; Ability to draft and document formal written correspondence; Ability to read and understand detailed technical specifications and drawings; Ability to manage job site safety programs, knowledge of Cal-OSHA construction safety standards. Education Requirements and Qualifications
Candidate should have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction Management;
Minimum of 5 years field and office experience with primary focus on wet utility projects including but not limited to water, sewer, storm drain systems along with paving & concrete as it relates to utility work;
Ability to execute the contract requirements, manage the client, manage subcontractors and material suppliers, and oversee overall project to maximize profitability while maintaining safety and quality;
Ability to recognize changes in scope, price, negotiate, and execute Change Orders;
Familiar with standard contract terms and conditions; Ability to read and understand detailed technical specifications and drawings;
Ability to market and develop lasting client relations to maximize repeat work;
Must have worked for self-performing contractor that performs at-risk work (no construction managers or governmental estimators/managers);
Experience in utility construction in urban areas with emphasis on street work;
Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs is required;
Experience with InEight Hard Dollar estimating tool, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam is desired;
Familiarity with the Southern California market is a plus.
