Water/Wastewater Technical Engineering Manager - Kansas City - Hybrid
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Water/Wastewater Technical Manager to join our client's Overland Park office. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and design a variety of water and wastewater infrastructure projects while mentoring a team of junior engineers and collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Design and Management: Lead the design and development of water and wastewater facilities, including treatment plants, pumping stations, pipelines, and related infrastructure. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project life cycle, from initial concept through construction. Oversee and review designs, technical reports, and plans to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Mentorship: Act as a mentor to junior engineers, offering support, training, and professional development to help them grow in their careers. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Interface with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to communicate project goals, progress, and challenges. Facilitate meetings and provide clear, concise updates to ensure alignment and project success.
- Innovation and Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to integrate innovative solutions into project designs. Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and sustainability in water and wastewater management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field); Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering, including experience in project design and management.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills with a passion for developing talent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, regulatory bodies, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from concept to completion.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to water and wastewater engineering.
- Proficiency in engineering software and tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydraulic modeling software.
