An established environmental engineering firm is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead design management, project oversight, and client support for projects in the Los Angeles area, focusing on design/build initiatives. Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and conduct engineering work on significant wastewater and reuse projects, ensuring adherence to design decisions and quality standards.
- Oversee a team of engineers and guide project assignments while providing mentorship to junior staff.
- Engage in proposal development and contribute to the creation of statements of qualifications.
- Navigate complex negotiations with stakeholders, including engineers and organizational leaders.
- Manage multiple mid- to large-sized projects, ensuring budget, schedule, and quality standards are met.
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients and decision-makers in the industry.
- Participate actively in professional associations, presenting technical papers and serving on committees.
- Assist in the recruitment process for new engineers and facilitate travel as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in wastewater and reuse design, particularly in treatment processes and plant design.
- Professional Engineer registration in California.
- Proven experience managing medium- to large-sized projects with full accountability for budget and schedule.
- Strong problem-solving skills and creative engineering judgment.
- Effective communication skills with clients and project teams.
- Familiarity with a variety of issues in wastewater systems, particularly treatment plant design.
- Knowledge of structural and geotechnical design concepts and relevant regulations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in the field, including expertise in MBR treatment and advanced facilities design.
- Familiarity with Microstation or AutoCAD.
- Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Experience in both design and construction phases of projects.
- Skills in managing project financials and schedules.
Pay Range
$150,000 to $200,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
