The Vice President of Development is responsible for executing the process of development for real estate projects with a focus on site due diligence, planning, entitlement, budgeting, and overall management of the land development process from inception to stabilization. The VP Development will work closely with the development team and report directly to the Senior Vice President. The VP Development is expected to manage multifaceted tasks concurrently and successfully for multiple projects with short deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overseeing and implementing the development process including management of the development budget, aiding in site evaluation, planning, design, entitlement, construction and delivery of the projects.
- Upon request, develop the critical path schedules and consultant budgets outlining required zoning, environmental, water management, access, traffic studies, flood zone and other entitlements required for the timely commencement of company projects.
- Work with third party consultants in securing soil borings, Phase I and II ESA and wetland determinations for the projects.
- Work closely with the Senior Vice President and team to underwrite new development opportunities including construction cost estimates, local permit and impact fee costs.
- Thoroughly reviewing all survey, civil and landscape design plans to drive quality and cost effectiveness.
- Preparing, maintaining, and monitoring project development budgets and preparing monthly project development reports.
- Providing leadership and mentoring for less experienced Associates.
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of significant experience in real estate development (emphasis on Multifamily is a plus), land development and project management.
- Has demonstrated the ability to build and direct effective teams to manage major development projects while providing supporting documentation to their superior.
- A licensed PE working for a civil engineer or an experienced Development Officer working for a developer would be the ideal candidate.
- Demonstrated ability to complete the job responsibilities with minimal outside supervision and direction.
