Responsibilities:
- Take real-time actions to maintain Bulk Electric System reliability, including load shedding during normal and emergency conditions.
- Operate under PJM authority as Reliability Coordinator, Transmission Operator, and Balancing Authority.
- Perform critical tasks independently without higher-level approval.
- Maintain relevant PJM and NERC certifications and complete ongoing task verifications.
- Develop, revise, and maintain operating practices and procedures.
- Assist in training and observing Associate Transmission System Operators.
- Monitor bulk electric system elements and respond to status changes, disturbances, emergency events, and system conditions.
- Make internal and external notifications as required.
- Monitor voltage and reactive power flows; utilize resources to maintain voltage schedules.
- Prepare and execute switching orders for safe work zones.
- Provide verbal instructions for field personnel during switching operations.
- Control equipment using SCADA as needed.
- Regulate power flow among interconnected entities.
- Log system activities for routine reporting.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of related electrical or mechanical utility experience (Master's degree counts as 1 year of experience).
- 3+ years in a System Operator role.
- NERC Transmission Operator or Reliability Coordinator certification.
- PJM certification (or obtain it within 6 months if it is not currently certified).
- Mastery-level knowledge of NERC regulations, electrical principles, control systems, substation equipment, power station operations, industrial safety, and emergency procedures.
- Proficiency in computer systems (Microsoft Word, EMS, DMS), communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and collaboration.
- Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to handle high-stress situations.
- Ability to respond to emergency storm events.
- Work 12-hour rotating shifts.
- Complete Dominion Energy operator qualification programs within specified time frames.

- Must obtain PJM certification within 3 months (2 test attempts permitted).
