GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This client is a global leader within the renewable sector with its presence in over 28 countries world-wide. It is the 4th largest producer worldwide. Its main shareholder was listed on the Dow Jones for 14 consecutive years.
This Senior Network Engineer role will be a hands-on role where you will take charge of administration of all the network infrastructure. This includes Cisco switches, access points, servers, management devices, VPN, and authentication gateways.
You will be part of the IT team and will oversee a group of engineers and outsourced services by providing them with technical support and direction. The position offers a hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 from home.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage outsourcers
- Design and maintain LAN/WAN & wireless infrastructure
- Integrate Wind Power Plants
- Supervise on-call models to provide support outside of work hours
- Provide consulting on projects
- Stay up-to-date with new emerging technologies & make recommendations based on research
- Architect the network infrastructure along with management (including physical infrastructure in offices & substations)
- Provide network solutions
- Perform capacity management
- Work on hardware/software solutions for telecommunications
- Provide solutions for critical network infrastructure issues
- Administer routing protocols
- Administer firewalls in routed mode
- Work with vendors
- Take charge of VPN configurations
Travel: Less than 10%
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or any related field
- 5 years of experience in network engineering support
- TCP/IP knowledge (routing, subnetting, VPN, VLANs, QOS, NAT)
- Proficient in routing protocols (BGP & OSPF)
- Experience with ancillary network services (RADIUS, TACACS, NTP, LDAP, DNS)
- Strong proficiency with Cisco ASA firewalls in routed mode
- Experience in VPN configurations
- Hands-on experience with maintaining Solar Winds
- Understanding of Microsoft products
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
Desired Skills:
- Advanced Network certification (CCNP)
- Checkpoint and Juniper experience
- Working experience in MSP/ISP environments
- Experience working with regional internet routing entities (ARIN, RIPE, etc.)
