Position Overview: As a Senior Heavy Civil Public Works Estimator, you will lead their pre-construction efforts, leveraging your extensive experience to prepare accurate and competitive bids for public works projects in the Seattle area. Your expertise will directly impact their ability to secure and deliver high-quality projects for the community.
Experience Needed:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Heavy Civil Estimator, with a successful track record in the public works sector in Seattle.
- Proven expertise in estimating public works projects, including roads, bridges, utilities, and infrastructure.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment commonly used in public works.
- Familiarity with local regulations, permitting processes, and public works project specifications in Seattle.
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail in bid preparation.
- Experience in utilizing construction takeoff software.
- Proficiency in the use of project management software and estimating software including HCSS
Qualifications Needed:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is a plus.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, and government agencies.
- Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple bid projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining the highest quality in estimating.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for public works projects in Seattle, adhering to specifications and local regulations.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to identify project requirements and scope.
- Collaborate with project management, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for precise estimates.
- Conduct quantity takeoffs and material pricing to ensure comprehensive bid proposals.
- Prepare bid documents, including comprehensive cost breakdowns and project schedules.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for inclusion in bid packages.
- Assist in the development of bid strategies and pricing models.
- Present and discuss estimates with project teams, clients, and public agencies.
