Summary: A leading General Contractor is looking for a Senior Transportation Estimator for their Northern Virginia office. This contractor specializes in large, complex heavy civil infrastructure. For nearly 90 years, it has contributed to the development of the country's vast network of roads, highways, and bridges, including the Interstate Highway System. This contractor also specializes in tunnels, renewable energy plants, and water and wastewater treatment plants.
The Senior Heavy Civil Transportation Estimator will be responsible for:
- Price assigned items within HCSS
- Quantify project components
- Visit project to understand site conditions/restrictions
- Work with the estimating team utilizing HCSS to build the project estimate
- Overseeing a team of 8+ estimators
- Provide preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing Primavera P6 or Primavera Contractor software
- Work with team to close the estimate
- Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates
- Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values
The Senior Heavy Civil Transportation Estimator should have the following qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years' experience as an Estimator in the Heavy Civil or Transportation industry
- HCSS experience is crucial
- Experience on projects up to or exceeding $500M
- Roadway and Bridge experience preferred
- Design Build experience on projects greater than $100M preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead as well as work within a team
