We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join a dynamic team in the transmission and distribution construction industry in New York and New England. The Estimator will play a critical role in the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for various projects, including transmission lines, distribution networks, and substations. This position requires a deep understanding of construction methods, material costs, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation: Develop detailed cost estimates for transmission and distribution construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Ensure estimates are comprehensive and reflect current market conditions.
Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit bid proposals for new projects. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather necessary information and ensure proposals meet client requirements and industry standards.
Takeoffs and Analysis: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from project drawings and specifications. Analyze project scope to identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities.
Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors. Evaluate and compare bids to ensure the most competitive and reliable sources are selected.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in developing project budgets and forecasts. Track and analyze project costs throughout the lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
Project Support: Work closely with project management teams to provide cost-related support throughout the project lifecycle. Address any changes in scope or unforeseen issues that may impact project costs.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and correspondence. Prepare and present cost reports to stakeholders and management as required.
Industry Knowledge: Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: Proven experience as an estimator in the transmission and distribution construction industry, with a strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and costs.
Skills:
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Certifications (Preferred): Professional Estimator Certification or similar credentials.
Working Conditions:
