Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Energy Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy efficiency, energy modeling, and building systems, with the ability to lead complex projects and deliver high-quality results. This role involves collaborating with clients, contractors, and internal teams to develop and implement innovative energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Energy Auditing & Analysis:
- Conduct detailed energy audits of multifamily, commercial, and industrial buildings.
- Identify energy conservation measures (ECMs) and develop comprehensive energy savings calculations.
- Perform energy modeling and simulation using software such as eQUEST, EnergyPlus, or similar tools.
- Analyze building systems, including HVAC, lighting, controls, and envelope, to identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements.
Project Management:
- Lead the development and execution of energy efficiency projects, from initial assessment through implementation.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely and successful project completion.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to facilitate project implementation.
- Provide technical oversight and ensure that all projects meet industry standards and client expectations.
Technical Expertise:
- Serve as the subject matter expert on energy efficiency and sustainability for internal teams and clients.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to energy efficiency and building performance.
- Review and approve technical reports, proposals, and energy models developed by junior engineers and consultants.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering professional growth and development.
Client Relationship Management:
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
- Provide ongoing support to clients throughout the project lifecycle, from initial consultation to post-implementation.
- Identify opportunities for additional services or projects with existing clients and support business development efforts.
Quality Assurance & Reporting:
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of all energy models, reports, and documentation.
- Develop and implement quality assurance processes to maintain high standards across all projects.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for clients, clearly communicating findings, recommendations, and projected energy savings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in energy engineering, energy modeling, or related fields.
- Strong proficiency in energy modeling software (e.g., eQUEST, EnergyPlus, etc.) and data analysis tools.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED AP, or equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge of building systems, HVAC, lighting, controls, and energy efficiency best practices.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with utility rebate programs and energy savings verification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multifamily and commercial building projects.
- Knowledge of building codes and standards related to energy efficiency.
- Familiarity with building automation systems and controls.
- Experience in energy auditing and energy savings estimation.
