Role Overview: As a Senior Stormwater Engineer, you will play a critical role in the planning, design, and delivery of complex stormwater management and drainage projects across Sydney. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, providing technical leadership and expertise to ensure the successful execution of projects that enhance flood resilience, water quality, and environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead the design and implementation of stormwater management and drainage systems for urban developments, infrastructure projects, and water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) initiatives.
- Technical Expertise: Develop and review detailed stormwater models, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, and floodplain assessments using industry-standard software (e.g., DRAINS, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS).
- Design and Documentation: Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring compliance with relevant Australian standards, local government regulations, and best practices.
- Client Engagement: Work closely with clients, stakeholders, and government authorities to understand project requirements, provide expert advice, and deliver tailored solutions that meet their needs.
- Team Collaboration: Mentor and guide junior engineers, contributing to the professional development of the team and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Sustainability Focus: Champion sustainable stormwater management practices, integrating WSUD principles into designs to enhance urban water cycle management and reduce environmental impact.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all project deliverables meet high standards of quality, accuracy, and timeliness, adhering to the company's quality management systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements in stormwater management, and changes in legislation to drive innovation and improve project outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related discipline).
- 8+ years of experience in stormwater management, drainage design, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling.
- Proficiency in stormwater design software (e.g., DRAINS, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS) and CAD tools.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian standards, guidelines, and local government regulations related to stormwater and drainage.
- Proven track record of leading and delivering successful stormwater projects in urban environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Chartered Engineer status (CPEng) or eligibility for Chartered status with Engineers Australia is highly desirable.
