Role Overview: As a Senior Archaeologist, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing archaeological projects, conducting fieldwork, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. You will collaborate closely with our team of experts to provide valuable insights and contribute to the successful planning and execution of projects that impact both natural and cultural resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage archaeological fieldwork and research projects from inception to completion.
- Conduct archaeological site assessments, surveys, and excavations in accordance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Prepare detailed reports, analyses, and documentation of findings.
- Collaborate with environmental planners, cultural resource managers, and other stakeholders to integrate archaeological considerations into project planning.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to cultural resource management.
- Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior staff and field teams.
- Stay updated on advancements in archaeological methodologies and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in archaeological research and fieldwork, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in CEQA documentation for cultural resources segments.
- Proven expertise in cultural resource management, particularly within California and the Western United States.
- Strong knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in archaeological field methods, data analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
