Role Overview: Provide guidance and support to the Project Team on-site to foster a safe working environment, ensuring adherence to company guidelines and policies. Lead the implementation of T&D Standard Operating Procedures and the Safety Program.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the management team on-site to ensure compliance with safety guidelines and company policies.
- Monitor and provide feedback on crew activities to eliminate at-risk behaviors, identify safety concerns, and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
- Manage injury response, including administering minor first aid, conducting root cause investigations, reporting incidents, and facilitating return-to-work processes.
- Conduct daily facility inspections, observing crew operations, tools, and equipment to identify hazards and unsafe behaviors, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Contribute to the planning of upcoming work to identify potential safety issues and propose solutions.
- Develop and deliver job site safety orientations for new team members, subcontractors, and other relevant individuals.
- Coordinate emergency planning with project management, including arranging local emergency services, establishing warning signals, evacuation points, and escape routes.
- Develop systems for the proper handling of hazardous materials, including use, storage, shipping, spill control, cleanup, and disposal.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations at state and federal levels.
- Conduct periodic industrial hygiene and environmental sampling.
- Participate in corporate safety audits and manage follow-up actions.
- Assist with the coordination of equipment and tools.
- Oversee property maintenance and repair.
- Coordinate with on-site subcontractors.
- Audit safety programs, including rubber glove testing, assured grounding, FR clothing, and spill kits.
- Support cross-training for other safety specialists in T&D-specific areas.
- Demonstrate knowledge of grounding best practices and equipotential zones.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Preferred 5+ years in construction safety within the T&D field.
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree, preferably in Safety.
- Certifications: Required-CPR, AED, OSHA 30, and First Aid; additional certifications such as CUSP, CHST, OHST, STS, CSP, or EMT are a plus.
- Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Capable of managing multiple projects and shifting priorities effectively.
- Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail in task completion.
- Effective in a diverse and multicultural work environment.
- Additional Experience: Background in physical therapy is advantageous.
- Other Requirements: Must hold a valid driver's license and be willing to travel regionally
