As a Roadway Engineer, you will be an integral part of our remote team, contributing to the planning, design, and implementation of roadway projects across Ohio. You will work closely with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative transportation infrastructure solutions. This position offers the flexibility of working from home while making a significant impact on the communities we serve.
Responsibilities:
- Develop roadway design plans, profiles, cross-sections, and construction details using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) in compliance with design standards.
- Conduct engineering analyses and calculations related to roadway geometry, alignment, grading, and drainage to support design decisions.
- Collaborate with project teams to create conceptual layouts, alternatives analysis, and feasibility studies for roadway improvement projects.
- Prepare engineering reports, technical memoranda, and project documentation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client requirements and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with utility companies, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to obtain permits, clearances, and approvals for roadway projects.
- Conduct virtual site inspections and surveys to assess existing conditions, identify design constraints, and gather data for project planning and design.
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and construction plans to ensure compliance with project specifications and design intent.
- Participate in virtual project meetings, design reviews, and client presentations to communicate project progress, findings, and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with a focus on transportation engineering. EIT certification preferred.
- 0-5 years of experience in roadway design and transportation engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and engineering analysis tools. Experience with Civil 3D is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of roadway design principles, geometric design standards, and transportation engineering fundamentals.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical data and apply engineering principles to solve design challenges.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with remote team members and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work within project deadlines.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining productivity and meeting project milestones.
