Reports to Manager of Power Systems
Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert and technical authority on the field of specialist power system studies;
- Perform advanced studies using tools such as PSSE, PSLF, ASPEN, DSATools, Powerworld, EMTDC/PSCAD, and EMTP RV
- Support sustainable revenue growth from a diverse group of North America based clients in a way that is consistent with strategic principles and corporate objectives;
- Support other regions, such as the West Coast and Canada, in the development of regional markets and capabilities
- Train and mentor junior engineers
Requirements
- Experience with power system analysis software, such as CYME, SKM, PSS/E, PSLF, ETAP, PSCAD, ASPEN, DIgSILENT
- Experience in the performing short-circuit, protective device coordination, and arc-flash studies is required
- Experience in protection of electric power systems and distributed generation resources is required
- Experience in performing analyses in the area of power system automation and control is desirable
- Experience in performing generation interconnection and transmission planning studies is desirable
- Knowledge of microgrid and distributed generation application
- Knowledge of short-circuit contribution of various generation sources including wind and solar generation units
Must be able to work from Chicago, Calgary, or Toronto office.
