The Electrical Project Engineer provides electrical engineering and technical support of electrical construction phases including project controls, circuitry blueprint interpretation & compliance, contract compliance, scheduling, document control, and engineering means & methods. They also provide engineering input to the daily job log.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in proper project planning, value-added engineering means & methods, developing work packages, preparing production indicators/benchmarks, and developing the master schedule.
- Interpret electrical design/drawings/circuitry for installing electrical equipment, instrumentation, wiring, control systems including electrical system operations, troubleshooting, and performance testing.
- Provide electrical construction technical support including voltage/amps specification, circuitry diagram analysis, and grounding.
- Assist estimating of installation of various electrical systems, equipment selection, and proposal evaluation, requisitioning, and coordinating equipment delivery.
- Interpret production goals from work packages to ensure daily communication of productivity goals is understood by crews executing the work.
- Track progress of the major vendors and subcontractors to ensure that materials are manufactured and delivered.
- Generate and maintain various informational logs, procurement reports, contract compliance listings, and correspondence with project client/owner.
- Identify, document, and estimate costs of extra work of unanticipated activities.
- Coordinate the transmittal and subsequent approval of all submittals to the Owner/Engineer.
- Other duties as assigned/required.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience for the role.
- Minimum of 5 years of heavy electrical construction engineering experience to include estimating, cost management, contract and subcontract administration, and project scheduling.
- Understanding/experience with regulatory processes and permitting is a plus.
- Possess excellent computer skills in Excel, Word, and familiarity with Mapping, GPS and/or CAD type software.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively with external contractors and consultants.
