The client is leading player in the data center industry, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Johor, Malaysia. Job Overview: As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and operation of data center facilities in Johor, Malaysia. You will provide technical leadership and expertise in the field of mechanical engineering, focusing on the efficient and reliable operation of critical infrastructure systems within our data centers.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical System Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems within data centers, including HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), cooling systems, and plumbing.
Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams, ensuring best practices, industry standards, and compliance with local regulations.
Energy Efficiency: Drive energy-efficient initiatives by identifying opportunities to reduce power consumption and improve the sustainability of mechanical systems.
System Optimization: Continuously assess and optimize the performance of mechanical systems to meet data center reliability and uptime requirements.
Budget Management: Assist in budgeting and cost estimation for mechanical engineering projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and provide solutions to mitigate them, safeguarding data center operations.
Vendor Management: Collaborate with vendors and contractors, oversee procurement processes, and maintain relationships with suppliers.
Compliance and Codes: Ensure adherence to industry standards, local regulations, and safety codes in the design and operation of mechanical systems.
Project Management: Lead or contribute to project management activities, from design inception to project execution, ensuring successful project delivery.
Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and drawings, and provide regular updates to management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
A minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in data center or critical facility design.
Relevant Uptime/TIA certificates preferred
Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and HVAC design software.
Strong project management skills and experience with project management tools.
In-depth knowledge of industry best practices, codes, and standards, Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing Engineering with a good understanding on data centre project and CFD study
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Fluent in English, and proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is a plus.
Prior experience working on data center projects will be highly regarded.
