I recently started working with one of the leading Renewable Energy Developers Globally at the moment. They have recently decided to venture into the Offshore Wind industry and are currently looking for a Project Controller!
Offshore Wind Project Controller Responsibilities:
Planning and Scheduling:
- Create and continuously update a Master Control Schedule
- Management Level L1 and 2 project schedules
- Performance Level L3 and 4 project schedules
- Create and update related assumptions book
- Perform the logic Network Planning in addition to progress measurement and assessment management
- Create WBS (Work Breakdown Structure)in addition to making sure that you are complying with this structure across the project work streams, which would include schedule, estimates and budget
Project Cost Estimation and Bench-marking:
- Put together both the CapEx and OpEx cost estimates, for each stage of the project
- Keeping track of the estimate basis and applying any and all relevant estimating tools, implementing the appropriate allocated allowances and contingencies
- Use the already established and or new tools to assure project costs, schedule and controls based on prior experience
Cost Control
- Create and update budget forecasts, which should include the preparation of budgets, coordinate reviews with Project Managers and other relevant management to acquire the necessary approvals
- Outline and put into place Cost Control processes to help support project management and delivery, including forecasted costs vs actual costs and measurement of progress
- Help facilitate the relationships between the Financial and Accounting Team as well as Procurement and the Commercial Team
Risk Management
- Create and enforce risk management processes and procedures, which should ensure the project performance and to help with the project success
- This will include identifying and tracking risks and risk mitigation plans and assigning risk ownership to incorporate it into the schedule
Project Reporting
- Create and issue project reports to communicate to management and stakeholders, in order to convey the project performance and progress
- Act as the lead liaison between the project team Leads and Management and support timely and informed management decisions
Qualifications for Offshore Wind Project Controller:
- Bachelor's degree in either Business Administration, Engineering or a related field
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Science, Architecture, or Construction science is highly preferred
- 5+ years of Project Controls Management or Project Management
- Previous experience in Wind and or Offshore Wind industry is preferred
- Expert knowledge of cost control philosophy and methods, estimating, and document controls procedures
- High level knowledge of budgets, scheduling and RFP process
- PMP certification is a plus
