POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role involves designing and managing a range of infrastructure projects for municipalities and local school districts, reporting directly to the Senior Associate and Head of the Municipal Services Department. Projects include roadways, underground utilities, public buildings, recreational facilities, and land development applications from private developers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management: Serve as the primary point of contact between the firm and municipal or public agency clients. Oversee and coordinate all project activities, ensuring client satisfaction.
Engineering Solutions: Develop and implement engineering solutions to help clients improve and maintain their infrastructure.
Design Work: Utilize computer-assisted design tools to create transportation systems, utilities, facilities, or hydraulic structures, ensuring accurate specifications based on load, grade, water flow, and material stress calculations.
Cost Estimation: Estimate material, equipment, and labor costs to assess project feasibility.
Data Analysis: Analyze survey reports, maps, blueprints, and other topographical or geological data to inform project designs.
Traffic and Environmental Studies: Conduct studies on traffic patterns and environmental conditions to identify and address engineering challenges, while evaluating potential project impacts.
Compliance: Ensure all design work complies with environmental, safety, and governmental regulations, and develop risk management strategies to mitigate environmental risks.
Public Engagement: Attend public meetings as a representative of the municipal or land use board, presenting reports on topics like bid proposals, project status, and development reviews.
Technical Support: Provide technical guidance on design, construction, and capital program modifications, and support construction inspection staff with timely data, drawing reviews, and client coordination.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Proficiency in drafting detailed reports, including illustrations, maps, and appendices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Stormwater Modeling Software and the Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
