LVI are seeking a Senior Mechanical Forensic Engineer in California to provide technical and managerial oversight over the West Coast Region. The firm predominantly specialise in Structural Forensics, Building Enclosure Consulting/Design but are expanding their clientele and service lines throughout the US. With a huge presence on the West Coast and expansion plans in the South East, the ideal candidate will have a passion for growth, the desire to make a difference in the industry and the willingness to go above and beyond.
The Lead Engineer will be expected to evaluate the cause of failure, extent of damage, and options for repair in a variety of mechanical systems and construction-related circumstances, including building envelope evaluations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Determine the scope of repair and evaluate repair options
- Determine the cause of failure of mechanical components and systems
- Evaluate the cause and extent of damage following storms, natural disasters, accidents, and fires/explosions
- Effectively communicate opinions in writing and verbally, and sometimes as testimony
- Effectively and patiently communicate technical matters to laypersons and attorneys
QUALIFICATIONS
- PE Licensed in CA - Surrounding states a plus
- Project management or supervisory experience desired
- Must never have been disciplined by an engineering board or licensing authority
- Must never have been disqualified as an expert witness
- Proficiency in other mechanical engineering branches such as HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression systems, vehicles and hydraulics is highly desired
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients and employees at all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills with attention to detail and a high quality of work in a dynamic environment
- Must be able to work independently, efficiently manage your time, and meet deadlines on multiple concurrent projects
- Demonstrated intermediate-level computer skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university/college
- 8 years of mechanical engineering experience, required; 10 plus preferred
- Forensic experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), required
- ACTAR certification and/or accident reconstruction experience a plus
- C.F.I. or C.F.E.I. a plus
