Lead Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer
Opportunity:
We are seeking a Lead Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to serve as a technical specialist or supervisory leader within Dallas or Houston. This role focuses on developing advanced engineering solutions, supervising engineering teams, and collaborating across disciplines to deliver projects of medium to high complexity.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and guide multi-disciplinary teams to develop I&C deliverables in domestic and international offices.
- Design, procure, configure, and troubleshoot control systems (DCS, SIS, PLC, SCADA, HIPPS) and field instruments (control/relief valves, flow/level/pressure sensors, analyzers).
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering design standards and principles.
- Lead HAZOP/LOPA reviews and address resulting action items.
- Use tools like SmartPlant Instrumentation to produce accurate engineering documentation.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- 8+ years within Instrumentation and Controls
- Design experience within PLC / SCADA
- Proven ability to lead large, multi-office engineering teams.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in process control systems (DCS, SIS, SCADA, HIPPS).
- Expertise in field instrumentation selection, sizing, and procurement.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, standards, and design tools (e.g., SmartPlant Instrumentation, MS Office).
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams (process, mechanical, electrical, piping, civil, marine).
- Ability to meet pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle record review.
Preferred Skills:
- Hands-on experience with floating LNG and offshore oil and gas projects.
- Strong understanding of HAZOP/LOPA processes and ability to resolve complex issues.
- Advanced knowledge of instrumentation and controls for high-stakes engineering challenges.
