We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team in New York. This position is crucial for overseeing a diverse range of geotechnical projects, particularly those involving urban redevelopment, environmental remediation, and complex infrastructure. The role involves providing advanced technical expertise, managing projects, and mentoring junior engineers. You will support the Branch Manager, allowing them to focus on business development and expanding the firm's presence in the region. For high-performing individuals, this role offers a clear path toward progression into Principal and Partner positions within the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including subsurface explorations, soil and rock testing, and data analysis for projects in New York's challenging urban environment.
- Provide expert guidance on geotechnical challenges such as foundation design for high-rise buildings, ground improvement for contaminated sites, and excavation support in dense urban areas.
Project Management:
- Oversee multiple geotechnical projects simultaneously, with a focus on large-scale commercial developments, brownfield redevelopment, and infrastructure projects such as subway expansions and waterfront developments.
- Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and adhere to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with New York City and State regulations.
Mentorship and Training:
- Mentor and train junior and mid-level geotechnical engineers, guiding them through the complexities of urban geotechnical engineering and fostering their professional growth.
- Lead technical workshops and provide on-the-job training focused on regional challenges like high groundwater conditions, bedrock profiles, and urban construction constraints.
Design and Analysis:
- Prepare and review detailed geotechnical reports, offering innovative solutions for deep foundations, earth retention systems, and ground improvement techniques tailored to New York's built environment.
- Utilize advanced geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, PLAXIS, LPILE) to conduct complex analyses necessary for the city's unique geotechnical conditions, including high-density developments and complex underground structures.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with civil and structural engineers, environmental scientists, project managers, and clients to ensure geotechnical solutions are seamlessly integrated into overall project designs.
- Work with public agencies, private developers, and stakeholders to address and mitigate geotechnical risks in high-profile projects.
Quality Control:
- Review and approve technical work produced by junior engineers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications, New York City Building Code, and other relevant standards.
- Implement rigorous quality control processes to maintain the highest levels of technical excellence.
Support Branch Growth:
- Assist the Branch Manager by leading technical initiatives, enabling them to focus on expanding the firm's market presence through business development and client relationship management.
- Actively participate in strategic planning and marketing efforts aimed at securing new opportunities in the New York metropolitan area.
Career Progression:
