POSITION SUMMARY
The Fire Alarm Designer shall provide and participate in decision making for all project-related issues of entry to mid-size projects in revenue earnings as well as possess a full understanding of the client's project requirements. The Fire Alarm Designer has a high level of responsibility of interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating Fire Protection projects of entry up to mid-size. The Fire Alarm Designer plans, develops, coordinates, directly in both small- and mid-size projects in scope and level of importance. The Fire Alarm Designer engages in all aspects of the mildly complex project, providing leadership and decision-making when required and has an advanced knowledge of the technical expertise required to design and implement the particulars of the project. Financial management and reporting as well as business development and marketing under the direction of the Group Leader.

Essential Function Statements:
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of discipline/department for medium fee projects or mid-level complexity projects.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and understanding of NFPA, FM Global, Building and Fire Code Standards.
- Actively participates in problem solving and making Fire Protection decisions on a discipline specific level.
- Performs coordination at a higher level by reviewing drawings supplied by vendors, other team engineers, and architects while implementing design modifications as necessary.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
- Related Associates Degree in Fire Protection Technology, Drafting, Engineering or Architectural.
Or,
- Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Related Engineering field
Or,
- Masters' Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, or Related Engineering field
Experience:
- 8 to 15 years' experience in Fire Protection Engineering and Code Consulting. (Preferred- Not Required)
Or,
- Greater years of experience can waive educational requirements. Determined on a case-by-case basis.
Computer Skills:
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit documentation and management as it applies to Fire Protection Engineering.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, One Note, etc.)
Certifications & Licenses:
- NICET Level II or III or IV in Fire Alarm Systems. (Preferred- Not Required)

- Professional registration in Fire Protection Engineering (PE). (Not Required)
Other Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver's license
