A national, award winning client is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Transportation Engineering to lead company's expansion into the Pacific Northwest region, starting in Portland. As a key member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing transportation engineering operations, driving business growth, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects.

Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute strategic plans for the expansion of our transportation engineering division in the Pacific Northwest.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, establish and nurture relationships with clients, and contribute to the growth of the company.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of transportation engineers and professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Project Delivery: Oversee the successful delivery of transportation engineering projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards, budgets, and timelines.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing innovative solutions to exceed their expectations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with relevant regulations, codes, and industry best practices, ensuring compliance in all transportation engineering projects.
- Budget and Resource Management: Manage project budgets, resources, and staffing requirements to optimize efficiency and profitability.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design professionals, project managers, and stakeholders, to deliver integrated and sustainable transportation solutions.
- Industry Engagement: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations to enhance visibility and establish thought leadership.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators, track project metrics, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree would be a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Oregon or Washington, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, including substantial experience in a leadership or management role.
- Strong knowledge of transportation engineering principles, design standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven track record in business development and client relationship management, with a focus on expanding market presence and driving revenue growth.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, stakeholders, and industry professionals.
- Demonstrated success in delivering transportation engineering projects on time and within budget.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to identify emerging trends, anticipate market needs, and capitalize on growth opportunities.
- Experience working with public agencies, private clients, and multidisciplinary teams is highly desirable.
