We recently started working on an exciting Senior Director/Director role focusing on all of the Data Science/Engineering which includes the Optimization, Forecasting, Machine Learning, Machine Learning Ops and Data Engineering. The company itself is a subsidiary of one of the Largest PV Manufacturers of high performance and high quality solar cells Globally!
You will be managing a team of 10, so having a strong acumen as a leadership and the ability to drive productivity is going to be incredibly beneficial. This position will be reporting directly into the CTO of the company.
Director of Data Primary Responsibilities:
- You will be leading a team that is creating a state of the art, production quality software that will help to solve key business problems, while working with other software (Cloud, IoT), DevOps, Hardware Product Management and System test teams
- You will be leading and growing a 30+ person team across the US, Australia, Seoul, UK and India
- You will be driving productivity, inspiring, and empower the team and help to eliminate road block's to help them realize their full potential
- You will lead the vision, road map and execution of the Data Science Team Charter
- Support career paths, mentor-ship and growth on this team
- Prioritize the team's work based on business needs
- Work alongside the other leaders within the group and executives to build data-informed business strategy and product road-maps
- Meet in the middle of leadership, business outcomes, data science and software engineering
Director of Data Required Qualifications:
- PHD OR M.S in science or engineering, math, statistics or equivalent combined education and work experience
- 10+ years of technical experience in a data science role or equivalent
- 5+ years management experience of building and leading data science/engineering teams
- 5+ years working with production software
- Proficient at executing cross functional projects and collaborating with leadership across multiple teams
- Ability to translate complex business problems into achievable and actionable analytic projects
- Willingness to collaborate and communicate with the broader team to drive cross team and cross organization initiatives forward
- High sense of urgency and commitment
- Experience in energy domain - Solar, Wind, Energy Storage, Smart Grid, etc
Director of Data Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep understanding and experience with time series forecasting, ML Learning techniques (ARIMA, tree-based models, neural network) and Tools (Tensorflow, Pytorch, Scikit Learn, Keras)
- Experience with load, solar, price forecasting and energy market
- Experience with optimization techniques (deterministic, stochastic) and optimization packages Pyomo, Cvxpy, Gurobi, Express, Cplex
- Experience with applying statistical modeling, ML, optimization techniques to the data in power and energy domain
- Experience with various Cloud Technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Micro-services
- Good understanding of software development and deployment (CI/CD, Agile, Source Control Management)
- Experience with building complex, automated data processes, in Python, SQL, AWS, Airflow, Snowflake, RPA and other technologies
