Seeking a proficient Construction Inspector with expertise in roadway or bridge rehabilitation/reconstruction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a meticulous approach to ensure all construction activities meet regulatory requirements and project specifications. You will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, preparing detailed reports, and maintaining compliance with safety standards and construction protocols.
Responsibilities:
Reading and Interpretation:
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction plans, specifications, and special requirements.
- Apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to field measure quantities and calculate completed work quantities for contractor payment recommendations.
Daily Inspection and Reporting:
- Prepare clear and concise Daily Inspection Reports documenting work performed, including manpower, materials, equipment usage, and field-measured quantities.
- Ensure accurate recording of work progress and any deviations from plans or specifications.
Field Operations:
- Utilize operational knowledge of field inspection equipment to conduct inspections effectively.
- Monitor construction activities to verify adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Communication:
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate findings, issues, and recommendations to project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other team members to resolve construction-related issues promptly.
Requirements:
- LA DOTD Certification (Structural, PCCP, or Embankments) required.
- Minimum two years of experience in roadway or bridge rehabilitation/reconstruction projects, including experience in:
- Highway reconstruction: pavement, drainage systems, roadway lighting, traffic signals, asphalt milling and paving, utility protection/relocation, and pavement markings.
- Bridge reconstruction: concrete and steel demolition, repair of reinforced concrete and structural steel, steel erection, construction of reinforced concrete decks, retaining walls, substructure units (piers & abutments), and approach roadways.
- Desired certifications or training (willingness to obtain):
- HeadLight Fieldbook and Materials.
- SiteManager Daily Reporting.
- OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety training.
- Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC) certification.
Additional Skills:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using computer applications and software relevant to construction inspection and reporting.
