The company is looking to expand its building science presence in the Midwest by bringing on an experienced Project Manager. The individual would be walking into a well-established global firm, with a host of technical staff in the Midwest and Nationally at their disposal to assist with existing building projects.
Role Overview
- The company is seeking an Architect/Engineer with an interest in Building Enclosure Consulting to join their Illinois office who has experience in building enclosure consulting for existing and new buildings. The individual must have strong technical experience as well as the ability to lead and mentor, helping to shape the local and nation Building Science team.
What you'll do:
- Support new and ongoing design consulting, as well as conduct peer reviews of building enclosure plans and specifications.
- Conduct preliminary reviews of architectural drawings, shop drawings, and submittals related to building enclosures.
- Assist with or perform field testing and water leakage assessments for various building enclosure systems.
- Provide support for construction administration tasks, including reviewing shop drawings and performing site visits.
- Aid in or carry out forensic investigations and document existing conditions for different building enclosure systems.
- Contribute to the design of remediation solutions for building enclosures.
- Collaborate with team members on major design, inspection, or investigative projects.
- Draft clear and professional technical reports.
- Create sketches or mark up details using Bluebeam or manual methods.
Roles and Responsibilities
- BS in Architecture, Engineering or other relevant degree
- 3+ years of experience in BEC is necessary with a history of managing repair and restoration projects in Illinois
- A professional licensure in Architecture/Engineering is preferred
- Thorough knowledge of residential and commercial construction processes, codes, standards and materials
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must.
- Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD
- Experience in managing both technical and administrative staff is required, along with consistent professional communication with clients and project teams.
- Must be willing to travel outside the local area at least 20% of the time, depending on workload and project locations.
