Job Summary:
As a Building Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the building automation systems (BAS) for our data center facilities. Your primary focus will be on integrating, programming, and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley systems to optimize the performance, reliability, and efficiency of our critical infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including facilities management, IT, and operations, to ensure seamless operation of the data center environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Integration: Design, develop, and integrate building automation systems for data center facilities, with a focus on Allen-Bradley PLCs and related technologies.
- Programming and Configuration: Program, configure, and optimize Allen-Bradley control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems to manage data center operations.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with building automation systems, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system performance, analyze data, and implement improvements to optimize energy consumption, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including control logic, network diagrams, and system configurations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with facilities management, IT, and operations teams to coordinate activities, ensure system integration, and support project execution.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all automation systems comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in building automation technologies and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in building automation systems, with a strong focus on data centers and Allen-Bradley systems.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Allen-Bradley PLC programming and configuration (e.g., RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000).
- Experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
- Knowledge of network protocols and communication interfaces (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP).
- Familiarity with HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems in data center environments.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Allen-Bradley Certified Programmer, Certified Automation Professional) are a plus.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Project Management: Experience managing automation projects from design through implementation and support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other automation systems and platforms (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider Electric).
- Knowledge of energy management and sustainability practices in data center operations.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices related to building automation systems.
